Let's go and pick peas
I was asked to do a book for a baby that had realistic pictures of farm animals.
I wrote the poem and then did the illustrations which feature my sisters dog, and I used photos supplied by my niece of the horse and hen. It proved a challenge to get a photo of a dog chewing a stick that was suitable for a baby. Each painting features a bee or butterfly.
The verses are illustrated by my gouache paintings on paper.
The dog chews a stick | The cow says moo, moo |
---|---|
The hen says cluck, cluck |
On the farm, what can you see?
An apple hanging from a tree.
The dog chews a stick,
Oink, oink says the pig.
The goat eats a shoe,
The cow says moo, moo.
The goose pecks the duck,
The hen goes cluck, cluck.
The tractor goes beep,
Baa, baa bleat the sheep.
The horse goes for a ride,
The cat goes inside.
A bee buzzes past,
A llama eating grass.
Put your wellies on please,
Let's go and pick peas.
